Use essential oils while you are out and about or at work to energise, relax or relieve stress and anxiety with these simple methods of use.
Aromatherapy can be used anywhere and at anytime. Essential oils such as rosemary, basil or thyme can be applied to pep you up and revive your mind when at work, and oils such as neroli, lavender and chamomile can be used when you are out and about to relieve tension and stress. Pulse point blends are one of the most versatile ways in which to use essential oils. Ready-made pulse point blends are often available to buy from aromatherapy suppliers or health stores and are labeled under remedies such as "revive," "unwind" or "harmonise." The advantage of using a pulse point blend is that it can be applied discreetly and does not effect anyone in your local vicinity. It is more discreet than spraying on an aromatherapy-based perfume. How Do Pulse Points Work?Pulse point blends are applied to the main pulse points of your body such as the temples, under your earlobes, your inner elbows, wrists and ankles. The blends are rubbed onto your pulse points by a roller-ball bottle, allowing the essential oils to travel into your bloodstream through the superficial arteries close to the skin in these areas of the body. In theory, this method maximises the absorption and effectiveness of the essential oil blends. For example, if you apply a citrus blend to your pulse points, the essential oils will revive you. If you apply a blend of orange oils, you will feel calm and relaxed. How To Make Pulse Point BlendsYou can buy empty roller-ball bottles to fill with your own blends or simple use an empty blending bottle and apply to your pulse points by dabbing a little of the blend on your fingers and rubbing onto your pulse points. The pulse point blends below can be made up as mood-enhancers. For each blend, you will need a 30 ml dark glass bottle and use 30 ml sunflower oil as your carrier base: Confidence Blend
Anti-anxiety Blend
Energising Blend
Balancing Blend
Pulse point blends can also be used for practical purposes, for example: Anti-nausea Blend (for travel sickness)
Headache Blend
Other Methods Of UseIf you don't have a roller ball or other aromatherapy bottle at hand, you can also use these handy methods to take advantage of essential oils while you are out and about: Winter Colds: Add a couple of drops eucalyptus oil to the inside of your scarf to inhale and relieve a blocked nose. Summer Hayfever: Add a couple of drops lavender and chamomile oils to inhale and soothe symptoms. Tension Headaches: Add a couple drops peppermint and lavender oils to the inside of your gloves if Christmas shopping triggers an attack.
